4 roles have been defined: Data Contributor, Data Provider, Data Consumer and Data Recipient
- Data Contributor - a Participant which agrees and consents to the data element (Shared Data) being shared with the Data Consumer or Data Recipient.
- Data Consumer - a Participant which requests for (and receives access) to Shared Data shared by the Data Contributor or Data Provider.
- Data Provider (incl. Provider-on-behalf) - a Participant which possesses the Data Contributor's Shared Data and sends or makes accessible such Shared Data to Data Consumers or Data Recipient. A Provider-on-behalf is a Data Provider nominated by a Data Contributor to share the Data Contributor's Shared Data.
- Data Recipient (incl. Consumer-on-behalf) - a Participant which receives Shared Data from the Data Contributor or Data Provider. A Consumer-on-behalf is a Data Recipient nominated by the Data Consumer to receive the Shared Data from the Data Contributor or Data Provider.
